Senate Action on PT3
International Society for Technology in Education Action Alert
SENATE AND THE ADMINISTRATION NEGOTIATING THE SENATE ESEA BILL

Senate leaders and the Administration are negotiating a bi-partisan framework for Senate debate on S. 1, the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Senate floor debate is expected to begin April 23rd. A key program that might be in jeopardy is the Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3) program. Currently, S. 1 authorizes the PT3 program at $150 million.

The PT3 program supplies funding for schools of education to provide pre-service training for future teachers in the use of technology and ways to integrate it into their curricula. We have learned that the White House is considering whether to eliminate this program or consolidate it with other K-12 education technology funding. Either action would destroy or greatly undermine the effectiveness of PT3. It is imperative that supporters urge strong support for the PT3 program.

MESSAGE
Urge your Senators and the Administration to support the PT3 program, and not allow its elimination or consolidation.
